At this point, the episode seems to be spiraling towards a dreadful conclusion. It again begins with Anya having a night terror. Majga tries to wake her calmly, but eventually gives in to her mother’s method and shakes her awake. Majka explains to Wojtek that she has these screaming fits and no one seems to know what she is afraid of, she won’t tell.

Wojtek replies: the future.

He goes on to say that he doesn’t believe Majka should try to raise their daughter, that Anya is too delicate and that Majka would “ruin her” with her hysterics. There’s a hint of some event in the past where Majka was highly emotional and caused something to happen, again blaming the abused child for her inability to act like a mature adult.

In the conversation that follows, Wojtek also tells Majka that she should not take her far away with her — if anything, she should go herself and leave Anya. He then offers to have them both driven back home by that same weird friend who picked up the bags of teddy bears earlier.

We next see Stefan with Grzegorz, who doesn’t seem like a tough guy at all, more likely an elected official or bureaucrat. He says there is not much he can do, other than get the story on TV or, if she hasn’t picked up her passport yet, delaying that. Stefan doesn’t seem interested in either approach.

Back to Majka, she tells Anya that Wojtek doesn’t want them there, so they have to pick up their things and leave. She tells Anya to take a teddy bear, saying Wojtek gave it to her.

When Wojtek arrives home with his strange friend, he sees that they have already left, which seems to upset him.

The scene closes with Majka back on the phone with her mom. She says that the two hours have passed. Ewa offers her a deal where they would buy her an apartment and she would have some sort of joint custody of Anya until Ewa died, at which time Majka would get full custody.

Majka ignores this request and tells her that she is taking Anya to Canada and she has five seconds to agree to give her the consent or she will never see Anya again. She counts quickly to five and hangs up. Ewa agrees to the demand, but it comes after the phone has already been hung up.

There feels like no way out — and no good outcome for Anya — as the scene comes to a close.
