Disappearing Act
It’s very satisfying for me to delete essays from this site. Why? Because it means that the material has found its way into a book — therefore you can no longer access it here for free.
Today, I brought to market three books: THINGS WE DON’T SEE, my book about “Yi Yi,” UNDER PRESSURE, my book on “Aftersun” and DREAMS ABOUT DREAMS WITHIN DREAMS about Andrei Tarkovsky’s ”Mirror.” THINGS WE DON’T SEE is already available on Amazon in both Kindle and paperback format, and is slowly rolling out on other ebook formats.
UNDER PRESSURE and DREAMS ABOUT DREAMS WITHIN DREAMS will be sold only on Amazon, and will also be available in Kindle Unlimited. I’m experimenting with different marketing efforts for the various books to see what approach has the most success.
I’m also going to bring out new editions of my first two scene-by-scene books about films, ENDING THINGS and KAFUKU’S GHOST. There will be new cover art for both books and some minor editorial changes. I’m also going to remove the introduction to KAFUKU’S GHOST which, upon reflection, probably overwhelms what follows more than I intended.
My next step after that will be to publish my material about “In the Mood for Love” and “The Green Ray.” Then the big one, the compilation of all my material about Kryzsztof Kieslowski in a single volume called THE MORAL UNIVERSE OF KK.
So, very soon, most of my film writing will disappear from this website. But that’s ok, I will soon after begin work on my “Network” project.
