Over the years I have written a number of one-off essays about movies, in addition to my deep dives. Here are some of those reviews and treatments.

Here’s my list of the 100 best movies of the 1970s.

And here's the series of essays I wrote in 2020 about the movies of the 1970s.

  1. The 1970s Puzzle
  2. Liberation and Regression in 1970s Movies
  3. The Parallax View
  4. Taxi Driver
  5. New Values

Upcoming: While the films listed here give a good sense about what was happening in the U.S. in the 1970s, cultural change was happening worldwide and was reflected in films made in other countries as well. I'll next examine these cultural shifts by taking at look at Andrzej Wajda's "Man of Marble," Ingmar Bergman's "Scenes from a Marriage," and my choice as the best film of the 1970s, Andrei Tarkovsky's "Stalker."
