While the segment by segment part of my Kieslowski project has come to a close, I still have a lot of work to put in before I’m ready to publish it all in a book. Part of this will happen out of sight of this webpage — I’ll be editing and fact checking all of the various essays for some time to get them publication ready.

In addition, I’ll be working on some connecting essays to put some context around the project. I’ll craft a short biography of Kieslowski that will take up a chapter or two. It will probably include brief descriptions of his other films, both documentary and fiction.

I plan to write a short piece about the music in all of Kieslowski’s works and something about the crew that worked with him project to project. I’ll also do a survey of other books about Kieslowski, and I’ll reference them in an essay or two.

The rest will focus on regular Kieslowski themes — the role of chance, how sex and violence are handled (mostly offscreen,) and how Kieslowski uses objects to reinforce the themes in his stories.

Some of these will end up in the book, some won’t, it all depends on how well they come together and I feel like they fit.

And it’s entirely possible that I’ll decide to take on another episodic writing project while I continue to wrap up Kieslowski. I’m so accustomed by now to watching and writing day by day, it might be difficult to stop.

To anyone who has wandered across these pages and followed this project in whole or in part — thank you! I suspect most of my traffic is bots and spiders, but you never know, real humans might be taking this in as well.
